Harrisburg, Pennsylvania Tummy Tuck

Tummy Tuck Model Image

In Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, a tummy tuck (or abdominoplasty) is a procedure that can improve the contour of the abdominal area. To accomplish this, excess skin and fat will be removed and underlying muscles will be tightened. A tummy tuck can produce dramatic results, but requires a skilled and experienced surgeon to perform it safely and effectively.

Dr. Stratis is a board-certified plastic surgeon with many years of experience performing body contouring procedures. To learn more about abdominoplasty, request a consultation with Dr. Stratis online or call the office at (717) 728-1700.

If you are bothered by pockets of diet-resistant fat, but don't have a great deal of excess skin, you may want to consider one of the liposuction methods offered by Dr. Stratis. These methods can be less invasive than a full tummy tuck and may allow for shorter and more comfortable recovery.

The Procedure

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, usually with an overnight hospital stay. An incision will be made in your lower abdomen, below the line of most underwear or a bikini. Dr. Stratis will remove excess fat and skin. He will also repair weakened abdominal muscles. A second incision may be made around your navel to remove excess skin in your upper abdomen. For more minor cosmetic correction, a mini abdominoplasty procedure may be recommended instead of a full tummy tuck.

A tummy tuck is often performed as part of "Mommy Makeover" which will also include procedures such as a breast lift, breast augmentation or a face lift. If you are interested in a Mommy Makeover including a face lift, Dr. Stratis's partner, Dr. Scott Gayner, is a board-certified facial plastic surgeon and will perform consultations and surgery with Dr. Stratis.

Recovery and Results

After your abdominoplasty in Pennsylvania, you will need to allow yourself enough time to rest, recover, and heal. It's a good time to relax, and avoid stretched positions that would place strain on your incisions or on the sutured abdominal muscles. It will probably be 6 weeks before you can return to all of your usual activities, although you will be up and about long before then with a slimmer, firmer abdomen. If you take care of yourself, eat well, and exercise often, the results of your tummy tuck will be long-lasting.
