Harrisburg Liposuction – Traditional Approach
For many men and women in Harrisburg, liposuction is an ideal way to remove areas of stubborn fat in the arms, thighs, hips and abdomen. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. John Stratis uses this procedure to create a smooth, toned look when diet and exercise aren't enough. Several new methods of liposuction have been developed; however, under certain circumstances, traditional liposuction is still the best option.
Dr. Stratis is one of the few liposuction surgeons in Central Pennsylvania to also offer:
- VASER® LipoSelection®. This procedure uses ultrasonic waves to break down fat without damaging blood vessels or nerves. LipoSelection causes less damage to the surrounding tissues, limiting bruising and discomfort.

Focused for You
Our doctors have specialized training and experience that helps them deliver on your cosmetic surgery goals.
The Procedure
Liposuction may be performed under general anesthesia or sedation. Small incisions are made in inconspicuous locations. Through these incisions, the tissues will be infused with a sterile liquid solution to reduce bleeding and allow for easier access to the treatment area. Excess fat is removed through a tube called a cannula.
Recovery and Results
After the procedure, you may experience swelling or fluid retention, but these will subside with time. When the swelling is gone, you will see a smoother, slimmer body contour. By maintaining a healthy diet and exercising regularly, you can preserve the results of your liposuction.
Good for Body and Face
Liposuction also can be useful in other procedures such as breast reduction, tummy tuck, or a face lift. If you are interested in improving your skin or facial features, Dr. Stratis's partner, Dr. Scott Gayner, offers a variety of surgical and non-surgical options.
