CoolSculpting®
Love handles are far from lovable. However, they're an unfortunate reality for many men and women. In the past, people frustrated by love handles and other areas of unwanted fat had few options. If diet and exercise couldn't reduce fat deposits in this difficult area, the only means of improvement was surgery. But surgery isn't for everyone. Now, there's finally a non-surgical option to get rid of love handles and other bothersome bulges in Harrisburg: CoolSculpting® body contouring.
A reflection of their commitment to leading-edge techniques, Stratis Gayner Plastic Surgery is the first plastic surgery practice in Pennsylvania to offer this innovative new treatment. To learn more, request a consultation with Dr. Stratis online or call our office at (717) 728-1700.
The Procedure
After a thorough consultation, you will work with Dr. Stratis to determine which body areas you'd like to target. During the CoolSculpting body contouring procedure in Harrisburg, two cooling panels will be placed over the desired area. The treated area will be drawn in between the two panels using suction. An intense cooling sensation is felt at first, but patients adjust to this quickly and the rest of the procedure is spent in relative comfort.
While patients read, sleep, or work on their laptop, CoolSculpting does its work. The device uses a process called Cryolipolysis™, controlled cooling, to selectively destroy fat cells. The cells destroyed during the CoolSculpting procedure are gradually removed through the body's natural cleansing process. Because Cryolipolysis is so targeted, the skin is not damaged.

Recovery and Results
Patients may return to their usual activities immediately - there is absolutely no downtime required. Some people report mild redness, bruising, tingling or numbness, but these are temporary. Results appear gradually, beginning to show in approximately 3 weeks with full results in 2 months. Under some circumstances, an additional treatment may be necessary after several months.
Cleared by the FDA for non-surgical fat reduction, CoolSculpting reduces the fat layer by 20% on average, with up to a 40% reduction possible. The treated fat cells are eliminated, so long-term results may be achieved. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, with proper diet and exercise, will help ensure that your great new look lasts.
Surgical Alternatives
While CoolSculpting is a gentle and effective way to lose inches, it cannot achieve the same results as surgery. Liposuction in Harrisburg, PA, provides more dramatic, immediate improvement. Liposuction can also be used to treat areas that are not appropriate with CoolSculpting - such as the face and neck. Dr. John Stratis performs liposuction, as well as other body contouring procedures, and will explain all of your options.
